The Irish bouzouki appears as a lute with a flat bottom, a box in the form of rounded off droplet, with onelong fretboard and 8 strings:

 

 

Here are differentes appelation to hold(retain) for this instrument:
 
Bouzouki: 4  double strings in unison or in the octave, tuned in GDAD  or ADAD ( mostly. neck rather long )Vidéo
 
Octave Mandolin 4 double strings in unison, tuned an octave below  the mandolin in GDAE. Shorter neck  Vidéo
 
Cittern : 5 double strings (often in unison) tuned as CGDAE DAEADE, GDAEB or different tuning (variables following the musician)
 
Mandola (tenor mandolin) Between the octave mandolin and the mandolin. Tuned in CGDA Vidéo
